about kate

I’ve taught yoga for over a decade and have led 8+ yoga teacher training programs at both the 200 and 300 hour levels. Pulling back the curtains and mentoring novice teachers is part of what I do best.

I have a PhD in educational psychology and have spent decades in education. Most of my professional career in academia centers around teaching adults principles of teaching, learning, creativity, and research.

I champion research driven - and sometimes unconventional - principles of teaching, learning, and creativity that likely differ from how you were taught growing up. (Because conventional forms of teaching and learning don’t necessarily work super when working with busy adults in a yoga studio.)

With the advancement of research in education, neuroscience, and creativity, I’m here to help demystify curriculum development so you can deliver a YTT that makes a lasting impact on your students.

I’ve developed curriculum for years both as a yoga teacher trainer and as a professor in in-person, online, and in hybrid formats. Having a lot of great teacher training ideas is one thing. Figuring out how to communicate your ideas to others is a whole different beast. Let me help you figure what you want to teach, how to teach it, and how to discern whether it’s working.

Let’s bring 200 YTT dreams to life.

My values

GENEROSITY

Curriculum writing isn’t for the faint of heart - and I ultimately want you to be successful. You’ll have access to a number of resources, templates, and examples that you can work with to guide your curriculum writing process.

I don’t hold anything back - I give you access to everything.

I’m here to help with all the messy stuff:

  • Mapping out modules

  • Writing, writing, and more writing

  • Designing activities

  • Formatting your YTT manual

  • Yoga Alliance Application

meeting you where you are

My 1:1 coaching isn’t a cookie cutter program. I come alongside you no matter your experience in curriculum writing. I expect many of the folks I work with to have ideas loosely based off of however they were trained.

I work with your strengths and help curate resources and tools to help fill in the gaps.

A lot of this work takes time. I’m not here to rush you - but I can also help speed up the process.

simplicity

Designing and delivering yoga content has a lot of moving, complex parts. Simplicity is about distilling intricate concepts into easily digestible chunks of information. That’s my jam. It’s what I do best.

I’m here to help to simplify both the process of designing your YTT and your methods for delivering your brilliant content. You’ll find my resources to be easy to follow, easy to use, and easy to adapt so that they are just what you need.

Openness

This type of creative work asks us to be open, flexible, try on multiple perspectives, and go against the grain.

Although I’ll help offer structure and organization, I’m anything but rigid. I’m here to bounce ideas, generate new ways of thinking about YTT, and figure out what methods of application will work best for you and your clientele.
